project imagination

I found this article about a project that Ron Howard and his daughter are working on. They asked people to submit photos that they would both use and use for inspiration in their new film, "When you Find Me."I think this whole idea of a huge collaboration is extremely interesting. Now when people go to see the movie, there could be thousands of people knowing that they contributed to the creation of a good film.

creative block

Sometimes I find myself thinking that I have no creative juice left in me. I think that there's no way for me to come up with an idea for a new project. The thing is, I set myself up for this. This following link is just something random I found... but I want to print it out, blow it up, and hang it on my wall. It has great advice on how to, pretty much, not let yourself top being creative. I think the things on the list are great ideas... and maybe I should do a few.

amazing...

I was really impressed by this work.... At first I just looked at the pictures but by the end I was so interested in how he made the images I had to read the question and answer sections. He did basically all of this on photoshop and used a tablet. I WANT TO LEARN HOW TO DO THIS. Absolutely amazing.

Art Event #1

Hartwick College invites many people to come in and talk about their professional careers. In particular, the art department invites many artists to come and lecture about the different work that they have done. Recently, someone who is quite famous in the art world came to talk about her work. She was a part of the famous group of artists called the Guerrilla Girls.
She explained that in the 80’s she met up with a group of other female artists in New York City. They all had one idea in mind, to let the world know how women were being discriminated against in the art world. After having several meetings over what artwork they wanted to produce, they decided to make their own posters and put them up throughout the city. They came up with various situations, even going as far as calling out particular museums and galleries that had little to no female artists featured. This was the main reason why they wanted to remain anonymous, they did not want these posters to be seen as a way to advance their careers and most of all, did not want to be sued for what the posters said. Whenever they went out at night to put up their posters, they always wore gorilla masks. To make the money to produce the posters they made, they went around and lectured to different colleges, always wearing the masks.
After explaining her years as a Guerrilla Girl she went on to show us how she went on to do her own personal work. She ended up using a lot of the ideas and problems that she had faced with the Guerrilla Girls and used them in her artwork. Her pieces include feminist ideas, ideas concerning religion, and other various topics. She used many different mediums, such as fabrics, paintings and various types of sculpture. One piece even featured hats and hairpieces.
One of my favorite pieces was, “The advantages of being a Woman Artist.” The poster was one of the simplest, only in black and white, and had the sarcastic humor that seemed to be present in many of the posters that they made.
Seeing a woman such as this become so successful in the art world, especially during the time she was looking for jobs, really is inspiring. Her and her group of friends decided that they all believed they could change the statistic of women artists, and they are part of the reason why there are so many artists today.  Watching someone like this should really push people to fight for what they believe for, no matter how they have to do it.

logo design

logo design is something I have always been interested in and have tried to do myself. I think these are great examples of a good simple design but having a lot more behind it than when you first look at it.

finals

I ended up using the tree as the connecting factor in the pieces, then created life, love, and happiness.

second project..

I find this project 2 very difficult, and I think that is because the idea behind it is so broad. I'm having a hard time finding out which words that I want to use, but I found an image of a tree that I think I want to be consistent in each picture..

grafitti

Ever since seeing the movie "exit through the gift shop" I have found graffiti art extremely interesting and inspiring. There is always a certain style that people think about when they think about graffiti... but i bet they didn't picture this....

wearable art...

One of my favorite forms of art... art you can wear. I think that the pieces shown in the slide show are not only beautiful to wear, but aesthetically pleasing to the eye as a form of art. I have a lot of respect for these designers because they are trying to please a very large group of people. They need to come up up with a design that will catch peoples eyes and make them want to not only look at, but experience the art as well...
